This week of Christ-centered teaching is focused on strengthening families through biblical principles for the single years, marriage, parenting, communication, and spiritual leadership in the home. Each session is rooted in Scripture and designed to encourage families to walk faithfully with the Lord in everyday life.

"Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it..." Psalm 127:1(a)

A Biblical Theology of the Family

Monday: Two Becoming One

Genesis 2:18–25, Matthew 19:3–6,
1 Corinthians 15:10

Discover the origin of marriage and God’s divine design in bringing two lives into a one-flesh union. This foundational session explores the gift of partnership, the purpose of marriage, and how grace sustains it.

Tuesday: Family Life

Deuteronomy 6:1–9, Matthew 28:18–20,
1 Peter 5:5-6

Learn how to cultivate a Christ-centered home built on God’s love and truth. This session emphasizes discipleship in the home, multigenerational faithfulness, and the call to raise children in the Lord.

Wednesday: Worldly Threats to the Family

Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 3:1–5, Romans 1:20–29, Judges 21:25

Expose and confront the “gods of this world” that threaten to erode God’s design. From self and money to relativism and false religion, you’ll learn how to guard your family from cultural confusion and spiritual compromise.

Thursday: Husbands and Wives

Ephesians 5:18–33, Matthew 20:25–28

God's call to biblical roles is not outdated—it’s essential. In this session, we explore how husbands and wives serve one another through Christlike love and joyful submission. The mystery of Christ and His church becomes the model for marriage.

Thursday: Parents and Children

Ephesians 6:1–4, Proverbs 22:6, Hebrews 12:5–11

With the authority of Scripture, this session speaks to the heart of parental discipleship—discipline, instruction, and grace. Children are to honor, parents are to nurture, and the Spirit is to guide it all.

Friday: The Lord as Home-Builder

Psalm 127:1, Matthew 7:24–27, Acts 20:32

A godly home is not achieved by effort alone—it is built by the grace and wisdom of God. This final session centers on God’s sovereignty over our homes, His purpose in our families, and His glory as our goal.

Counseling God's Way Saturday Seminar

Seminar Outline

SESSION 1

GOD'S DESIGN FOR COUNSELING

"His name will be called Wonderful Counselor” (Isaiah 9:6). The Scripture lets us know that the Lord is to be our counselor.  This is the anchor truth in counseling.

SESSION 2

THE FOUNDATION - THE WORD OF GOD

The Word of God is our foundation for life and godliness. It is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). In biblical counseling, we rely fully on the sufficiency of Scripture to address the heart—not human opinions or theories. God’s Word is enough.

SESSION 3

THE POWER - THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is not an optional part of the counseling process—He is essential. Jesus said, “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). Biblical counseling depends not on our wisdom, but on the Spirit’s power to convict, comfort, and guide.

SESSION 4

THE PRACTICE - SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE

Scripture calls us to counsel in love (1 Corinthians 13; John 13:34–35). True ministry is not only about truth—it is truth spoken with compassion. Grow in practical skills for listening well, asking wise questions, and pointing people to Christ.

Meet Jeff Christianson

I’d love the opportunity to get to know you. If you’re attending one of the teaching events this week, you’re warmly invited to connect with me for fellowship and prayer as time allows. If we don’t have the chance to meet in person, you’re welcome to contact my ministry office to connect later at (828) 707-9034.

I was discipled, trained, and mentored within the Calvary Chapel movement, shaped deeply by the ministry and example of Chuck Smith and Bob Hoekstra. Their commitment to servanthood, the sufficiency of Scripture, and Christ-centered ministry continues to mark my life and teaching.

In many ways, these faithful pastors passed the baton to me—much like Paul did to Timothy:

“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
2 Timothy 2:2 (NKJV)

By God’s grace, I now serve as the founder of the Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Biblical Counselors, a ministry built upon the Counseling God’s Way framework developed by Pastor Bob Hoekstra. The Lord has been faithful to allow me to serve and equip hundreds of men and women in Christ-centered, Scripture-sufficient soul care—always for the good of the local church and the glory of God.
